Turn up the heat

Let’s cook.

  1. Add the softened butter, honey, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt, if using, to the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment or to a large mixing bowl.
  2. Beat on medium speed until everything is combined, then increase to medium-high and whip for 2 to 3 minutes, scraping down the bowl once or twice, until the butter is noticeably lighter and fluffy.
  3. Taste and adjust the cinnamon or salt if desired. Serve immediately while soft, or transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate.

Options & Variations

Orange Honey Butter

Add 1 teaspoon finely grated orange zest for a citrus note that works especially well with cranberry or whole-grain breads.

Smaller Batch

Use ½ lb butter, 2 tablespoons honey, ¼ teaspoon cinnamon, and ¼ teaspoon vanilla.

Serving Ideas

Spread over French toast, pancakes, waffles, biscuits, muffins, or warm bread.

Melt a spoonful over roasted sweet potatoes, winter squash, or baked apples.

Serve it alongside a breakfast board with toast, fruit, and pastries.

Storage

Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks. Let it soften at room temperature before serving.

Freeze for up to 3 months, then thaw overnight in the refrigerator.

Recipe Notes

The butter must be fully softened before whipping or the honey will not blend evenly.

Unsalted butter makes the sweetness easiest to control; add a pinch of salt if you want more contrast.
