Turn up the heat

Let’s cook.

  1. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium high heat, breaking it into small pieces. Drain the excess grease.
  2. Transfer the beef to a slow cooker. Add both bell peppers, onion, beans, tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, diced tomatoes, sugar, and all the seasonings.
  3. Stir well. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours.
  4. Taste and adjust the seasoning. Serve with your favorite chili toppings.

The small amount of sugar balances the acidity of the tomatoes. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 4 days or freeze them for up to 3 months.
